Seinfeld was an upbeat and popular sitcom on television throughout the 1990’s that still plays reruns on multiple channels. If you watched Seinfeld at any point during that decade, or payed even moderate attention to pop-culture, then you have heard the oh-so quotable words “No soup for you!” This quote derives from the “Soup Nazi” or “Soupman” character sometimes featured in Seinfeld.
His soup was reportedly the most delicious in New York City, perhaps the world, but he was known for having a pretty hostile demeanor and arbitrary, strict, rules in his soup shop. Well, the Soupman does not appear to be a fictional character—his name is actually Al Yeganah and he founded the original Soupman restaurant in New York City, which is called Soup Kitchen International.
He founded the popular Soup Kitchen International in 1984 and has been serving the world’s best soups from New York City ever since. Since that time, Al Yeganah’s Soup Kitchen International soups became the ultimate standard for world-renowned soups. Now there is a Soupman restaurant in Mpls too! The Soup Nazi’s presence in Mpls brings all of the same excitement to the table, as well as all of the same ingredients, services, and soups. The Soupman in Minneapolis brings to Minnesota the same popular tastes and commitment to deliciousness that Soup Kitchen International brought to New York City in 1984. Bringing amazing soup recipes to hungry customers in the Twin Cities is what the Twin Cities Soupman was meant to do.
